00:00:00.800 --> 00:00:06.760
In a typical self-custody wallet, the recovery phrase can recreate your keys.

00:00:06.760 --> 00:00:10.220
Anyone who obtains it may gain control of your assets.

00:00:10.800 --> 00:00:16.000
Store the backup offline and protect it from theft, fire and water.

00:00:16.000 --> 00:00:18.970
Choose storage you can find and understand later.

00:00:20.220 --> 00:00:24.720
Avoid photographs, cloud notes and support chats for a recovery phrase.

00:00:24.720 --> 00:00:28.337
More convenient copies can create more ways to lose control.

00:00:28.640 --> 00:00:34.420
Follow the wallet maker’s official backup-check process on a trusted device.

00:00:34.420 --> 00:00:37.303
Never test a phrase on a website sent by a stranger.
